It was my privilege to be for a time Joyce's daughter-in-law. I have many treasured memories from that era. I remember a loving, caring , supportive woman who neither judged nor criticised. She leapt into action one time becoming the 5th emergency service whisking me promptly off to her hairdressers, after I had tried to dye my hair but had just ended up looking like a belisha beacon; Joyce to the rescue ! She became my oracle when I stayed with them both during my final teaching practice, giving me sound advice when incurring difficulties with a member of staff . Her advice was invaluable. Her advice always worked out! Wise woman! I remember Joyce as someone you could always rely on and trust , who was there for you whenever needed. I recall how she could gather ' the Gill clan ' together with her huge Sunday roasts! I also recall the times we played mahjong until the early hours of the morning; she was tireless! Most of all, I remember the magic relationship Joyce shared with Eddie; a perfect fit. . . a perfect team. I will always treasure the many memories I have of her. Sleep easy Joyce, All my love, Linda
